Barack Obama: Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Hmmm now I am pretty open minded but this right here....

Clothing company United Colors of Benetton thought it would be a good idea to put together an ad showing Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez sharing a kiss on the lips. Now I understand wanting to preach tolerance and love but showing President in full on makeup mode like this is a bit disturbing no? They are both hetero sexual males what's with the gratuitous imagery?

Obama's on Oprah

So yesterday I was at home watching the Oprah Winfrey show and one of my favorite couple sat down for a chat with the queen of talk. President Barack Obama & First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on the show and discussed everything from their children, to future plans & marriage advice.

About their 18-year marriage, the first lady said that over the years she has learned that “it has to be a true partnership. And you have to really, really like and respect the person that you’re married to because it is a hard road.”

Not glossing over the realities of marriage, she said, “Melding two lives and trying to raise others and doing it forever, that’s a recipe made for disaster. So there are highs and lows.” She added that it takes more than love.

“When it gets hard, you need a little bit more,” said the first lady.

What great solid sound advice. I think sometimes people forget that marriage is an institution and that it truly It takes more than love to keep the marriage going. I like that she choose the word like, because you will always love your partner but really liking them is equally important. Thoughts?

FLOTUS appears on the View talks working out twice a day

FLOTUS Michelle Obama appeared on the View today with Jill Biden looking ravishing. You know I can never say anything about FLOTUS, as usual her fashion was on point. Jill didn't look too shabby either :)

Michelle Obama, whose toned arms became famous after her husband's inauguration, has revealed that she often has to work out twice a day because the amount she walks is so reduced due to security measures.

The two women, who revealed that they are close friends, were doing their first joint interview to promote Joining Forces, a national initiative to encourage society to support service members and their families.

Top 5 Lessons in Love from Michelle & Barack Obama

I love Michelle & Barack Obama. I love how the first couple is open with their relationship and they are not afraid to show emotion and be vulnerable in front of the world. .Barack Obama once said about Michelle “Sometimes, when we’re lying together, I look at her and I feel dizzy with the realization that here is another distinct person from me, who has memories, origins, thoughts, feelings that are different from my own. That tension between familiarity and mystery meshes something strong between us. Even if one builds a life together based on trust, attentiveness and mutual support, I think that it’s important that a partner continues to surprise.”

Here is my list of the top 5 things that we can stand to learn in the romance department from the First Couple

5. Make Yourself a Priority

Michelle Obama told Prevention Magazine - "I have freed myself to put me on the priority list and say, yes, I can make choices that make me happy, and it will ripple and benefit my kids, my husband, and my physical health. That’s hard for women to own; we’re not taught to do that. It’s a lesson that I want to teach my girls so they don’t wait for their "aha" moment until they’re in their 30s like I was (laughs). Maybe they can experience it a little earlier."

4. Try and get along with your mother in law:

You know that whole saying it takes a village to raise a child? The Obama's have proved it to be true by inviting Michelle Obama's Mom Marian Robinson to live with them and help take care of the children in the White House. "The girls are going to need her as part of their sense of stability,’ Michelle Obama told Newsweek magazine. So what's the lesson here: be nice to your significant others parents, you never know when you may them or..when they may need you.

3. Make Time For Romance:
I love how the Obama's go out for date night. Even after being together for 17 years, (they got married on October 18, 1992) they still make time for romance. I find this rule to be applicable even if you are married or still in the dating stages. Some couples get in the daily routine rut- meaning you get caught up in the craziness of everyday life, work or school that you don't make time to rekindle the romance. It's important to keep the fire lit by contuining to romance each other and ensure that you spend alone time with your mate. And ladies..dont let your man tell you he has no time, if the Prez can make time for date night so can your boo.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! (Every day is the 14th)

Here's Michelle Obama's advice for couples this Valentine's Day: laugh with your partner.
She says it's what she and President Barack Obama do, and it seems to be working. Their marriage, although tested throughout the years by his political ambitions – for the Illinois Senate, the U.S. Senate and later president – is going on 19 years.
"I think a lot of laughing," the first lady said Tuesday at a White House luncheon with reporters who asked about the Obamas' union. "I think in our house we don't take ourselves too seriously, and laughter is the best form of unity, I think, in a marriage.

I love these two!! And in honor of Valentine's Day see the video below for my musical inspiration

Quote of the day - Barack dishes on Michelle O

“Sometimes, when we’re lying together, I look at her and I feel dizzy with the realization that here is another distinct person from me, who has memories, origins, thoughts, feelings that are different from my own. That tension between familiarity and mystery meshes something strong between us. Even if one builds a life together based on trust, attentiveness and mutual support, I think that it’s important that a partner continues to surprise." --Barack Obama
