Deets on Lupita Nyong'o's new film slated to be filmed in South Africa & Uganda

It seems 2015 is the year Lupita Nyong'o and David Oyewelo take over Hollywood.

Earlier on this week David dished to USA Today on plans to work with Lupita on the film adaptation of "Americanah" but it seems they will ALSO reunite on Disney’s “Queen of Katwe,”  based on the true story of Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.

In news first reported by Deadline.com the  film is allegedly being directed by Mira Nair from a William Wheeler script. Disney is planning to start shooting in the spring in South Africa and Uganda. Hey now!

According to Variety:
The project is based on Tim Crothers’ 2011 ESPN The Magazine article and book “The Queen Of Katwe: A Story Of Life, Chess, And One Extraordinary Girl’s Dream Of Becoming A Grandmaster.” From a slum in Uganda, Mutesi became the World Chess Olympiad with the help of Robert Katende, who would be portrayed by Oyelowo.
Lupita will play Phiona’s mother, Harriet Mutesi.
John Carls and Lydia Dean Pilcher are producing with ESPN Films.
In other Lupita news the Kenyan beauty was spotted fabulously jetting out of LAX today...
I'm sure she will be back in LA in time for the Golden Globes (they air this Sunday) where she's confirmed to present an award! Can't wait to see what she rocks on the red carpet!
