VIDEO: Terrence Howard was asked about his "horrible accent" in the Winnie Mandela. His response is kinda amazing!

My friend Lelo B, is my hero. Allow me to explain why.

Yesterday, the stars of "Empire" - Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard were at a press conference in Johannesburg to promote the third season of their hit show.  They got a lot of love from the Mzansi crowd, you can watch Taraji's emotional video here, Awwww you guys..... y'all made Cookie cry. So sweet!

But back to this presser, my girl Lelo was in the audience and I am so glad she was there to spice things up. As much as we all love Terrance, I think it's safe to say that his accent in the Winnie Mandela movie left a lot to be desired. It was real bad, like Michael Jackson bad. Lelo being the brave person that she is, told him to his face (in a really sweet way btw) that his accent sucked. Ha!

His response? Shocking! He said "I've never heard that my accent was terrible."

Wait a minute! What?

He told the audience that he was trying something new. "It was attempt to emote. I had talked to my co-star Jennifer initially. I said when her (Winnie Mandela) and Nelson were alone, I am sure they didn't speak English inside the household."

So it was Terrence Howard's idea to speak Xhosa?

Xhosa is a difficult language. It ain't for everybody, some languages just require that you put some respeck (yes RESPECK) on them. I admire the effort but I can agree with Mam' Winnie Mandela about this movie - it should have never been made. She was insulted by the movie, I was insulted by the accents.

Check out the clips below to see exactly how it went down at Monday's presser:

In other Winnie news, one of my FAVORITE actresses, the beautiful Terry Pheto is set to play Winnie in a new BET mini-series set to air in 2017. Read more about that here!

Congrats Terry!
