#Beyhive don't get too hype!
Even though we are all chomping at the bit to see Beyonce's latest project - be it singing, acting or dancing, the latest film rumors apparently aren't true at all.
Word on the street a few days ago was that Blue Ivy's Mama was set to write and star in a film about Saartjie (Sarah) Baartman - the South African woman who subjected to harsh injustice and appeared in freak shows because of her physical features in the 1800's. However today Bey's refuted the claims in a statement to Billboard.
"Beyonce is in no way tied to this project," her rep told Billboard in a statement (Jan. 5). "This is an important story that should be told, however."
Saartjie Baartman's story is so heartbreaking. The way she was mistreated, tortured and humiliated is beyond sickening, I agree with Beyonce's rep - this story needs to be told. If a film is to be made it, it would be only right to cast a South African actress who can accurately capture how Saartjie was stripped of her humanity and subjected to racism, sexism and exploitation.
Who would you cast in the role of Saartjie Baartman?
