MAJOR: Ava DuVernay buys distribution rights to Terry Pheto's film "Ayanda"

Terry Pheto is a household name is South Africa and it seems she her a sights set on a global domination. Deets on her MAJOR move below:

We all know Terry as an actress but did you know that she's a producer as well? Her well received film "Ayanda" has been picked up for distribution by director and screenwriter Ava DuVernay. In an interview with Destiny Magazine  Terry said:

 "“I’ve been proud of the film from day one. I’ve always known that this is a special film, whether it received international recognition or not. However, having said that, it’s always a good feeling receiving that pat on the back that says ‘you’re on the right path and the world is watching’

Ava is on a mission to help women and more kinds of filmmakers, telling the Los Angeles Times "There's a generation of filmmakers of color and women who primary concern is that no one will see their work. And that is a huge barrier."

The answer to that lack of visibility is Array - a new organization founded by Ava which will help distribute films in theaters and as well as new streaming platforms. You can read more about it here.

Ayanda is set to open in South Africa on October 2nd an in the US mid-November
