My stance on abortion is self admittedly fuzzy. I find my self going back and forth with the idea of allowing a woman to have free will in deciding what she wants to do with her body. But one on the flip side, I struggle with the idea of ending a pregnancy and wonder what the implications would be on the mind, body and spirit. To be honest having several abortions seems excessive to me. Abortion should never be used as a method of birth control, one or two slip ups.. I possibly understand but having several abortions signals a larger underlying issue.
To be fair, when we address the topic of abortion we never really fully think about the repercussions of having the procedure. In previous conversations I've had with women that have had the harrowing experience of terminating their pregnancies, they reveal tales of despair, hopelessness and mind numbing pain. The shame that surrounds abortion has been around for centuries. This dark cloud of secrecy makes it even more difficult for some women to discuss it with their friends and family members making it an even more isolating experience. This idea of having women see the fetuses seems nothing short of brutal and barbaric. We shouldn't punish women that choose to have abortions, this is one of the oldest practices on this earth. To that end, I believe the entire abortion industry or practice should be re-addressed and amended. Let's take away the red tape and discuss abortion openly without judgment.
What are your thoughts on abortion? Pro or con?
