Offensive or not? Couple has colonial themed wedding

Unbelievable! Who in the right mind would think this is a good idea? I am a bit embarrassed at the lack at the ignorance of some people.

Jezebel is reporting that 2010 the couple pictured above named Dave and Chantal decided to throw themselves a fancy wedding. By fancy I mean they thought it a good idea to have a colonial theme wedding. What the what? In case you don't know what it colonization means here's the definition:
"The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically"

Because let's face it folks, what says good times than rape, slavery, racism and brutal colonialism to celebrate your LOVE for one another.

For those of you that have been living under a rock I'm here to inform you that colonial Africa was no walk in the park for the natives. To add insult to injury the couple decided to have the wedding in South Africa!!! You know the same South Africa that with the devastating history of segration and apartheid. Oh and it get's better folks. The entire wedding party (they were all white) was served by an all black staff.
You just cant make up ignorance like this.

You already know  how I feel about it, tell me your thoughts. Was it the couple's right to celebrate how they wanted or is this racist as hell? Talk to me..

  1. Oh well, racism as we know it, will always be there. Nothing you and I can do about it. The fact that some balck waiters agreed to wearing those silly looking outfits.

  2. This is true Ghep! Racism is unfortunately here to stay forever. Re: the black waiters, while I am disappointed that they choose to partake in this I cant help but think that these people probably needed the money to make ends meet. SA has not fully recovered from apartheid a large majority of blacks are still highly disenfranchised.

  3. They should have had an angry black man/woman run in and beat the crap out of them. That would complete the story. "Freedom of expression" for everyone.
