Disney partners up with songstress Lira for South African release of 'Moana'

Disney's latest flick “Moana” scored BIG at the box office this weekend.

The animated comedy collected a cool $81.1 million at domestic theaters over the five-day holiday weekend, enough to rank as the second-best Thanksgiving opening on record, behind only “Frozen,” which took in $93.6 million for Disney in 2013 per the New York Times.

Amazing right? Well get ready for more good news because when the film hits South Africa on Dec 2nd it looks like Disney has a nice lil surprise for us. If you listen closely to the ending credits you will hear a very familiar voice.

Stunning songstress LIRA announced today via Instagram that she recorded "How Far I'll Go" for the movie. The song was penned by Lin Manuel Miranda the genuis behind the critically acclaimed Broadway play Hamilton.

Lira explains “How Far I’ll Go beautifully encapsulates the elements of Moana that resonate with me, to break away from conformity, to be bold, go out and discover what makes you uniquely you. It’s a real honour to be involved! Also, the fact that Disney is able to incorporate and feature African voices in projects such as this, is truly exciting.”

Nice! Congrats to our FAVE! Take a listen to the track below:
