American Apparel partners up with West African creative for new t-shirt collection

This is the story of what happens when you have a dream and the determination to follow it through.

Massah KaiKai is a young New York City based creative who pitched an idea to American Apparel to capture a different side of her family's homeland of Sierra Leone - and guess what? The company agreed! Within a matter of months, American Apparel t-shirts were sent to Sierra Leone where a group of local artists created the limited edition t-shirts.

So cool!

You can buy the unique tie-dye t-shirts on the American Apparel website: http://store.americanapparel.net/the-sierra-leone-tee-_cat2410670.

Per the press release:
"Fifty percent of the sales proceeds from this collection will be donated to the artisans who dedicated their time and talent to its design."

"Sierra Leone has faced some obstacles, but it's such a vibrant country where opportunity is possible for people with ideas and passion," KaiKai said. "I hope Sierra Leoneans are inspired by what we've done in partnership with American Apparel to showcase this talented community."
This is very inspiring, I will be definitely buying one of these t-shirts!
