Red Carpet Rewind: Flicks from the MTV Africa Music Awards

I know my invitation must have got lost in the mail, cause there is no way I should have missed the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban :)

Just kidding! The awards looked like a blast, I know for sure I will be there next year. So lets talk about the folks who did actually made it on the red carpet.

First up is host Marlon Wayans! Sigh. Ok let's start with the good news, he is a cutie right? Can't deny that! But he got so many scathing reviews on Twitter about his emcee performance. Seems like folks weren't feeling him.
Kenyan tech expert and social activist Ory Okolloh said: “Whose dumb idea was it to have Marlon Wayans host #MTVMAMA? He has not even trying to be locally relevant. *smh*”
Ouch! Guys was he that bad? What I know is that he was polarizing, you either loved him or hated him. Speaking of polarizing...
You either loved or hated Sizwe Dhlomo's attire on the red carpet. It's clearly inspired by 'Coming to America' and I'm still on the fence on whether I love it or hate it. It's interesting!
Queen Bonang Matheba looked like a green goddess on the carpet. Pretty as per usual!

The always gorgeous Minnie Dlamini!

Rapper AKA also hit the carpet
His alleged girlfriend Zinhle wasn't too far behind! The DJ looked chic & comfy in this ensemble!
Oh heeeey Donald! Congrats to him for going platinum btw! Such a nice & talented guy!
MTV Base got 2 for the price of one. They invited rapper French Montana to perform at the awards & his boo thang Khloe K came as well!
She was pretty in pink in Lanvin. Ok here's a little tea. I heard she didn't want to mingle or take pics with fans. Folks seemed rather disappointed that she was hell bent on ignoring fans even when they were screaming her name. Hmmmm that's shady Miss Khloe...
Other Americans on the carpet were singer Miguel
And singer Trey Songz. Apparently Trigga had a bit off technical difficulty with his sound onstage but made up for it by showing the audience his abs. Nice distraction tactic, his washboard stomach will shut everyone up!

South African singing group Mafikizolo also hit the carpet!
They picked up an award for Best Group! I'm so hoping they win the BET Intl Africa Award. Can't wait to see them in LA later this month
I also heard that my girl Simphiwe Dana electrified the audience with a performance dedicated to uTata Nelson Mandela! She
performed in front of a giant timelapse video artwork by street artist Rasty.
Based on pics alone it seems the show was a resounding success! Did you watch it? What did you think?
