Have you heard of the Somali-American actor nominated for a Golden Globe?

He has such a great story!

Somali born actor Barkhad Abdi went from working at the Mall of America to lighting up the big screen. The 28 year old is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting actor for his work playing the Somalian pirate Muse in Captain Phillips.

He told HuffPost Entertainment that he answered a casting call in his home city of Minneapolis to audition for film, and was among 700 hopeful actors who went out for the feature's pirate roles and luckily for him he nabbed the role!

So what was it like working with actor Tom Hanks? Well director Paul Greengrass kept the actors from meeting until the moment they filmed that scene.
"I was so nervous that day, that was the first time I'd met Tom Hanks, so I met him in character, yeah.  And it was really nerve-wracking."
I bet! He is truly living the American dream! I will be rooting for him & Lupita at the Golden Globes!
