Jennifer Hudson covers Essence Magazine talks playing Winnie Mandela

32 year old Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is the latest celeb to cover Essence Magazine! I think she looks great but I'm not a fan of how covered up she looks. I know it's a winter issue but there is something about the cover that I'm not feeling. What do you think?

Peep the highlights from her interview:

On playing Winnie Mandela:
"I was so nervous about doing a good job that I started working on the accent a couple of months before I even got there."

On relocating away from her fiance David Otunga and son, David, Jr., to film in South Africa:
"I was like, 'Oh, my God—You want me to leave my baby and my man?"

The physical transformation and weight loss and paying proper respect to a living legend:
"So much was done to suppress Winnie's voice, to keep her quiet. Winnie's story needed to be told."

I wonder if they asked her about Winnie's stance about her movie? You might remember that Winnie was against the movie, no wonder it flopped. I love me some J.Hud but you can't win when you play dirty!

Jennifer has a new album sceduled for early 2014. For the album, she has collaborated with Pharrell Williams and Timbaland.

"I spent my twenties figuring out what I wanted to do, and trying everything," she says. "But by 30, my foundation was set. I became confident and clear about the path I wanted to take...Now I've really settled into myself. And I'm stronger than I've ever been."

Nice! Make sure to pick up the issue when it hits stands on Dec 6!
