We have a new Miss Universe & a South African born Miss USA!

Miss USA is now Miss Universe!

Congrats are in order for Rhode Island beauty Olivia Culpo. Miss USA is our new Miss Universe. Get it girl! I had my money on Australia but I am happy for Olivia. Here are the final rankings:

1st runner up: Miss Philippines, Janine Tugonon, 23
2nd runner up: Miss Venezuela, Irene Sofia Esser Quintero, 21
3rd runner up: Miss Australia, Renae Ayris, 22
4th runner up: Miss Brazil, Gabriela Markus, 24

Nana and Olivia earlier in the year

So since Miss USA just won the pageant, that means that we have a new Miss USA. Born in South Africa and repping Maryland Nana Meriwether is our new Miss USA!

I am so happy for Nana. Many felt she should have won Miss USA earlier this year and it seems fate worked out in her favor.  She just tweeted:
"Ahhhhhhh congrats to Olivia! All I can think of is her and the children of the Meriwether Foundation"

The Meriwether Foundation is Nana's nonprofit in Southern Africa. They focus on operating medical and healthcare clinics, sustaining HIV/AIDS orphanages and establishing community and agricultural projects in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique.
