5 months ago I cut my hair and...

Hunty, I'm wondering why I didn't do it sooner. I want to shout this from the mountain tops - I LOVE my new hair!

My natural hair!!
Let me explain. I like to call myself a hair chameleon - I change my hair depending on my mood. Your girl has rocked all different types of hairstyles from weaves, to short relaxed 'Halle Berry-esque' crops and even braids. You name it- I've probably tried it in many different colors too.

Bang Bang!
So what convinced me to do the big chop? Cutting my mane this summer had nothing at all to do with the natural hair movement going on. Honestly it was just a matter of convenience.

I really miss this color - I may try this again next year
Picture it- it was midsummer July in NYC and my hairstyle of the moment was a brown-ish wig with some fierce bangs. I was rushing to an event and my bangs were sticking to my forehead because of the sweltering heat. At that moment I had HAD enough. I decided right there and then it was time to get rid of the wig and do the big chop!

LOVING the big chop!
Well I am glad to report that my new hair regiment is SO easy! I wash my short natural 'do every other day using Twisted Sister Shampoo & Conditioner. After that I use a ribbed towel  to create a bit of texture and add dimension to my hair. What really helps define the hair is a product that I love called  Kinky Curly Custard. The whole process takes about 10 minutes and I am ready to go!

End of June - with one of my old wigs!
I really want my hair to grow out a few inches and then I will decide on the next steps. I will tell you though that I am enjoying the love I am getting because of my hair. Just this past week, I was at a Maybelline event on the 80th floor at the Empire State Building in NYC. The room was filled to capacity with who's who of the beauty world. When the beauty editors from Essence Magazine and Teen Vogue Magazine both complimented on my hair - I understood that for now, my hair is my signature look. Who knows what the next few months will hold for me hair-wise? I'm thinking of getting braids at some point but for now I think I am sticking with Team Natural!
