Willow Smith debuts new video "I Am Me"
At the tender age of 11, Willow Smith is on a mission to prove that she is a multi-faceted artist. The celebuspawn of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith released a new video last night prior to BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The pre-teen told Global Grind that the slow and heartfelt song is simply about being herself."It's just explaining who I am and what symbolizes me-like me as an energy, me as a person, just cool and rounded". The inspirational ballad and accompanying video aptly entitled "I Am Me" follows the pint size pre-teen through New York City's City High Line and Washington Square Park. The new release is a far cry from her break out hit, the dance-tastic "Whip My Hair". In her latest offering Willow confidently croons"Your validation is just not that important to me". Seemingly referring to critics who often lash out at the young singer's fashion choices. Is this a turning point for Willow? Only time will tell, her debut album is scheduled to hit shelves towards the end of 2012.
