77% of Americans believe that abortion should remain legal. Where do you stand?

This past Friday May 4th Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed a contentious bill into law late last week. The much talked about House Bill 2800 essentially cuts federal funding to Planned Parenthood. In a statement to the media Jan Brewer stated that “by signing this measure into law, I stand with the majority of Americans who oppose the use of taxpayer funds for abortion”

Err say what now Miss Brewer? I hate when politicians flat out lie to the public, like Google doesn’t exist.

A 2012 Gallup poll conducted earlier this year found that over 77 percent of Americans believe that abortion should remain legal in all, most or a few circumstances. So that leads to me believe that Jan’s conclusion that most Americans are anti-abortion is unfounded and dangerously speculative.

What the hell is going on in Arizona anyway? Current Arizona law prevents public money from being used for abortions, but what makes this bill different is that the language in the bill prevents federal money being delegated to Arizona from going to places where abortions are performed. What makes this whole sordid ordeal sad is that Planned Parenthood does more than just abortions. They provided pap smears, breast exams (which are critical in catching cancer) and educational data to more than 1.1 million young people a year. I would personally like to ask Jan Brewer and the rest of the people anti- Planned Parenthood if they realize that only three percent of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services?
Not a fan- this picture of Jan wagging her finger in Obama's face displeased me! Uggh

In my opinion this is an issue of basic health care access. Most people that resort to Planned Parenthood are members of under-served communities where health and economic disparities make access to quality care difficult.  Even Jan must surely agree that breast cancer screening saves lives and that our focus should really be helping women access  health care and not placing barriers in their way. My personal feelings on abortion may sway back and forth with time but I am all about pro-choice. Let the woman decide what she wants to do with her body and not Jan Brewer.

What do you think about the controversial Arizona bill?
