Oprah Winfrey shares her private diaries

Ever wanted to read Oprah's private journal that she's kept since childhood? If so,  you are in luck Lady O is sharing her diary in April issue of O Magazine. She talks about how she wasn't always an overachiever, working on the Color Purple and her very first date. Highlights from the magazine:

Her first date at the age of 16
"Anthony asked me yesterday to go with him today. I answered yes," Winfrey says in an entry dated September 22, 1970. "My only regret is my parents. Maybe I shouldn't have said yes but I wanted to, and my want overpowered theirs...I hated to go against my parents but Anthony is so perfect (almost). I couldn't say no.

On working with director Steven Spielberg on the Color Purple
"Steven kept saying great — great — everyone was moved — then Alan said part of it was in shadow or something. I prayed and prayed to be able to recapture the same energy, having Whoopi there to coax me on did help a lot."

Winfrey reveals she wasn't always such an overachiever.
"I've got a psychology test tomorrow and haven't studied one bit," she writes. "Why I do stuff like this is beyond me."

Very interesting, I read O monthly so I will be picking this issue up. I especially laughed at the one about the boy being almost perfect. Ha! The joys of being a kid.
