Lauryn Hill performing in Nigeria with daughter Sarah Marley is the coolest thing ever

Songstress Lauryn Hill finally made it to Lagos after last year's last minute cancellation. If you didn't hear about it, read more about the 11th hour change and her subsequent acoustic apology here

The Grammy Award winning singer breezed through a bunch of her hits even though her show started hella late - it seems like it was worth it for the audience in attendance.

Peep the video below to see Sarah onstage with her Momma
After giving us one of the greatest works of art ever created in the last 25 years, Miss Lauryn Hill's greatness needs no introduction. People often deride her for her late shows, in some cases bad sound or performances of unrecognizable songs. I haven't witnessed any of these things to confirm, nor will I deny they happened, one thing was sure, she gave Nigeria everything she had last night. It's not hyperbole when I say it was simply DIVINE! To quote Talib Kweli, "Lauryn Hill gave us two Fugees albums, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill and MTV Unplugged 2.0. How arrogant would I be to say she owed me anything? What kind of self absorbed, entitled nonsense is that?" That said I feel sorry for all the people that left early. This made Arik Air postponing my flight a bit more tolerable. #MissLaurynHill #LaurynHill

PICS: Toni Braxton and Babyface storm Durban and shut it down

After a well received show in Zimbabwe, Toni Braxton and Babyface continued their R&B tour and delighted their South African fans this past Saturday in Durban.

But can we just pause for a second.

Friends now this is what 46 is supposed to look like.

Look at Toni's sisters - Towanda and Trina in the mix as well. Drop it like it's hot ladies!

The Sowetan Live reviewed the show and here's a snippet of what they had to say:

On her first visit to South Africa,  a shocked Toni was happy that the crowd knew all the words to her songs and sang along throughout her set.
She gratefully thanked the crowd for their support and explained how she almost quit singing after discovering she had Lupus, a chronic disease that causes the body's immune system to attack its tissues and organs, but through the support of Babyface, Lady Gaga and other good friends, she was able to pull though and continue doing what she loves.
"My doctor told me that I would never be able to perform again but God had other plans for me," she said.

If you missed the pair in action, you can still catch them in Cape Town at the Grand Arena on September 1st and Joburg on Sept 3.

In the meantime, get into these  pics of Toni and Babyface at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Phaedra Park shines on Rolling Out Cover

Divorce does a body good. Phaedra Parks looks phenomenal!!

The Southern belle is on the cover of this week's Rolling Out Magazine and she looks incredible. Check out highlights and pics from the shoot.

You’re on a show where you can get pulled into situations and it’s not always about “speaking life.” How do you deal with that?

I’m on a show where they speak death all the time. But the way I have conducted myself has set me apart because I really try to think before I speak. I try not to say things that I can’t come back from. I’m always very careful, and just because you’re thinking something doesn’t mean that you should say it. But there’ve been a lot of times where I wanted to rip somebody’s wig off.

Have you ever considered that maybe you overthink things?

"No. I think anyone that’s smart is always thinking forward. The smart person is always thinking about the next phase of their life. At the end of the day, my legacy won’t be that I was on a reality show. I want my legacy to be that I’ve made a change for many people, opened doors for women, that I was a great mother juggling a family and a career. Not that I was a fool on a reality show. There’s no honor in that."

In 2013, you published Secrets of a Southern Belle. Are we going to see another book from you?

Absolutely. I am playing with the idea of writing a book about parenting, and about Black boys. I want to talk about how you prepare a Black boy for this society that we’re in. I’m active with the Black Lives Matter movement, because although it’s 2015, the social and racial climate makes it feel like 1960.

Watch Toni Braxton show off her banging body onstage in Zimbabwe

From what I hear Toni Braxton showed up and showed out in Zimbabwe!
Toni Braxton & Babyface

The songstress arrived in Zimbabwe earlier this week and even though fans were disappointed that they didn't see Miss Braxton out and about in Harare - fans and critics agree that she rocked tonight's concert in Harare.

Toni uploaded a slew of videos to her Instagram account where she is front and center dancing to a few of her hits. Can you believe that this her first time touring Africa? How? Better late than ever right.

Toni and Babyface have such great chemistry

Toni's sister Towanda and Trina were also in the mix singing background. Hope this was all filmed for their reality show Braxton Family Values.

Quote of the day- Sarah Jessica Parker

Thanks for the lesson SJP! 💛
"Do not allow failure to be your undoing. I'm in a position to fail because I have the resources to cushion my failures. But for most people in this country who work incredibly hard, a setback can be catastrophic. Luck and hard work have something to do with success, but it's often the relationships you cultivate that can help you regroup." - Sarah Jessica Parker #FaithOverFear

Quote of the day- Trevor Noah

Gotta love African parents. Here's an excerpt from Trevor Noah's Vogue article ------> Neither of his parents has ever seen him perform; the one time Noah invited his mother to watch him onstage, she declined. “She said, ‘What do you do?’ I said, ‘I tell jokes.’ ‘Don’t you tell jokes at home?’ ‘I do!’ ‘Well, so why would I go out to get what I can get at home?’ ”

Something Sweet? Are Nomzamo Mbatha & Maps Maponyane really a couple?

Hotties Nomzao Mbatha and Maps Maponye's True Love magazine cover set the Twittersphere on fire today.

The duo is set to star in a new movie entitled "Tell Me Something Sweet" and based on the tag line and cover image above one would assume that their onscreen chemistry has spilled over to real life right?

Well, well well...it seems that may not be the case.

The gorgeous actress sent out a series of tweets seemingly refuting the claims that they are together. She tweeted the following:

BLOOP!

Well that pretty much shuts down the romance rumors. For now at least. But on the brighter side of things the film actually looks interesting, I really want to see it. Can they blame us for wanting to see two young beautiful people together? Assuming they are both single though!

The film is scheduled for nationwide release on September 4, 2015 in South Africa. And based on the trailer it looks pretty darn good. Check it out below

Ciara's most candid interview yet "I did reach out to my son's father and he didn't want to talk"

Grammy-Award winning singer Ciara was on "CBS This Morning" to discuss her new music, new life and the new drama brewing in her life.

Guys, this was one of best interviews. Baby girl didn't hold back, she really spilled alllllll the tea.

Gail King and Ciara on set this morning
She dished on trying to introduce her baby daddy Future to her current flame Russell Westbrook, the double standard single Mom's have in the dating world and much much more

Highlights below:

On the criticisms that she introduced her son too early to her new man
"It's been very interesting to hear what a lot guys have to say. I feel like in a sense it's a bit of double standard. At one point in time when I was with him I took care of his kids as well. I was very involved in the early stage of us getting to know each other, so that's been a big part of the conversation "like what's the difference here?"

Hmmmmm sounds like some B.S to me Cici. So no one had much to say when Ciara was taking care of Future's 3 other children (he has 4 kids in total) but it's a problem when she does it with her new boo?

On people judging her
"People are going to talk about me, I was built for this. This is what I am supposed to be doing. When it comes to your child, it's something I don't take lightly. At the end of the day my son will be the one to be most affected by this. People have to thinking about this versus just shouting out things"

On reaching out to her son's father (btw it's hilarious she never mentions her son's father  Future by name in this whole interview)
To the guys that wanna have an opinion (she's talking to you T.I.) know your facts. I did reach out to my son's father, for him and Russell to speak and he didn't want to talk - he didn't want to talk to me so that was that. So I don't know what they would expect me to do than just to live my life,"

PREACH Boo!

I really sympathize with Ciara. Are single mother's not supposed to date? How soon is too soon to bring your child around your new man? They have been together for at least a year and half, what is the big deal?

She seems to be really happy, I wish her the best!

The hype is real! Our South African brother is about to hit the small screen in a major way.

Just  a few hours ago, Comedy Central unleashed a 30-second trailer for the upcoming season of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Set to Kanye West's hit song "Power" the ass-tastic ad features Trevor adjusting his chair as the tag line "Same Chair, Different A**" flashes across the screen. Hilarious!

So we are all tuning in to the The Daily Show on Sept. 28 when Trevor takes over right?

My Favorite Magazine Covers Right Now

The Soil on the cover of Bona Magazaine
Absolutely loving this cover of Bona Magazine. The Soil is a South African group doing MAJOR things on their home turf while also making major waves abroad. So happy for their success! Can't wait to read about them.

Werq Kerry!

The 38 year old actress looks spectacular on the cover of Self Magazine. Kerry spoke about the unfair pressure that women (particularly in Hollywood) face in getting back to their pre-pregnancy weight. She told the magazine "I've been really focused on not being 'back' to anything, but being the best version of myself right now. My body is the site of a miracle now. I don't want to be pre-miracle."

All hail the Queen! How splendid does Queen Latifah look on the cover of Variety? So fresh and so clean clean!

"Surround yourself with really smart people" and other pieces of advice from one of America's self made millionaires- actress Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba is officially one of the wealthiest women in America who's made her fortune from scratch.

The Golden nominated actress has made major bank thanks to her non-toxic product line The Honest Company. The 34 year-old actress landed on the cover of Forbes Magazine's "America's Richest Self Made Women"  a few months ago and just recently we all learned that her company is now valued at 1 billion dollars- not too shabby right?

There is no one path to success, there are so many ways to skin a cat. However I love reading and listening to success stories of those that have made it . I always walk away with a little insight and food for thought. So to that end- here are a few lessons in life and business from Jessica Alba.

1. Shake the haters off
The Honest Company sells over 120 natural goods, including diapers, cleaning materials and skin products. However when Jessica initially came up with the idea of selling a whole line of non-toxic products everyone she approached was skeptical. "There wasn't one person who said, "Yeah, that can happen." I heard "Just do one thing really well and then you can expand" a lot. But I wanted this to be a whole lifestyle brand. Everyone I talked with in Hollywood could not wrap their heads around the idea."

2. Get the right team together
"It took me three years to find my business partners. You have to be brutally honest with yourself and understand your strengths and weaknesses. I'm not a business person--I'm a mom. I wasn't going to be coding. I wasn't going to be in the lab mixing potions. (Though I do test all the products on my kids!) I wasn't going to be the one doing the business model and running the operation." In an interview with Forbes Jessica says she's really more involved in the marketing and the design aspect in addition to the overall brand vision.

3. What about your friends?
Jessica credits her husband Cash Warren with helping her grow The Honest Company into a billion-dollar business.
A photo posted by Jessica Alba (@jessicaalba) on

"Gosh, it really wouldn't be possible without him," says Alba, 34. "He helped me put together my initial business plan. He was always my biggest cheerleader but never gave me unrealistic expectations and never criticized me so much where I felt defeated.

4. In an interview with Elle Magazine, Jessica was asked what advice she would give someone who wanted to have her job some day?
"You have to be tenacious, you have to be focused, you have to have a real vision, and be extremely passionate about it. Be smart about the way you are going to go into a marketplace and how you market yourself to the consumer you are going after. Surround yourself with really smart people."

Feeling inspired yet?  Let's do this!
