What happened when I met Russell Simmons..

Today (Nov 29th) was my lucky day! Not only because it was it my sister's b'day but I also got to meet music mogul Russell Simmons. A few weeks ago I wrote a post about being the winner of the  Global Grind celebrity video correspondent competition, you can check it out here.  Just to recap, I was selected out of over 5,000 entries to be the winner, so I was pretty stoked about completing part of my prize package which was meeting Mr. Simmons.

I walked into the mid-town Manhattan offices full of nerves and excitement. I had no idea what I was in store for and I just relished the idea that I would be meeting the mogul in a matter of minutes! Prior to meeting with Mr. Simmons I chatted briefly with Michael Skolnik who is co-president of Global Grind. I was immediately intrigued by the fact that Micheal speaks Zulu. I was almost in state of disbeleif when he initially told me, so much so that I actually spoke to him in the little Zulu I knew to see what his reaction would be. When Michael replied back "yebo" I damn near passed out. Btw, Michael is the director of Without the King which is one of my favorite movies about the King Swaziland. I met a few of the Global Grind staff and I shook hands with a couple of the members of the team. Then it was time to meet Russell. I have to be honest, I was NERVOUS. I walked into his office and I felt like I was going to pass out. Mr. Simmons immediately was so nice and friendly that it made it easy to chat with them. We talked about a number of things ranging from Occupy Wall Street to my upbringing and I capped it off by thanking him for this opportunity. His office was absolutely gorgeous and I almost didnt want to leave. It was a brief but short meeting but one that I will remember for a lifetime.

Don't you just love that Beyonce is still wearing heels so far into her pregnancy? So fab! Mrs. Carter dropped 2 videos tonight from her new album 4, "End Of Time" and "I Was Here"

"End of Time" is one of my favorite tracks from the Grammy Award winner's album so I'm glad to see a video for it. I love how Bey is holding her belly in the End Of Time video in numerous shots."I Was Here" is a beautifully shot video featuring clips from Beyonce's life. So inspirational. Did you guys see her wedding dress in the video?

Barack Obama: Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Hmmm now I am pretty open minded but this right here....

Clothing company United Colors of Benetton thought it would be a good idea to put together an ad showing Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez sharing a kiss on the lips. Now I understand wanting to preach tolerance and love but showing President in full on makeup mode like this is a bit disturbing no? They are both hetero sexual males what's with the gratuitous imagery?

Winning the Global Grind celebrity video correspondent contest!

A few months ago a very close friend of mine approached me about a contest she found out about on twitter. She enthusiastically told me how she thought I would be perfect for the job and encouraged me to apply right away. I heeded her advice and applied a few days later hoping for the best. The contest was held by music mogul Russell Simmons and the mission was simple enough:  to find the next great celebrity video correspondent. Right away something instinctively told me that this contest was right up my alley.

Let's fast forward to Oct 31st.  After tirelessly asking all my friends and family to vote for me, I waited with baited breath impatiently to find out if I had made the cut. At this point I knew I was in the final 5 and had submitted my video but after seeing all the other contestants I believed it could be anyone's game. On the night of Oct 31st, my phone rang and they informed me that I had won! I couldn't contain my excitement. I screamed, yelled and cried all at once. If you know me, then understand how much this means to me. To be handpicked by the man that discovered Run DMC, founded Def Jam Records and clothing label Phat Farm is in the words of Vice President Joe Biden " a big freakin deal" It's funny how when you put something out in the Universe with faith, hard work and dedication you realize anything is possible.

I'm truly excited about this opportunity. Trust me when I tell you I didn't this alone. My support system of friends/family who voted for me, my friend Marshana who "beat my face" with the makeup brush, my homeboy Sekou at Simply Rides who shot and edited my video ..to you all I say THANK YOU. It truly takes a village. I thank God for this and I realize how lucky I am. I'm excited about this new journey and can't wait to share it with you! I will obviously keep you posted on all my activities so be sure to visit my blog or global grind to keep up.

My favorite singer Beyonce  stepped out on Friday in NYC shutting down all the phantom pregnancy rumors. Just look at the face! She is absolutely glowing and clearly has put on some healthy baby weight. If you still don't believe she's pregnant after looking at these pics then I just don't know what to tell you!

Speaking of Bey did you know that the 30-year-old was today also revealed as the highest earning entertainer in the world who charges per minute for appearing on stage. The "Love on Top" singer topped a poll by social media website saucytime.com by earning 1.25 million pounds for a five-song performance at a private New Year's Eve 2010 party, equating to 71,040 pounds for each minute she was on the stage, reports femalefirst

Actress Nia Long , 41, and Ime Udoka welcomed son Kez Sunday on Monday, Nov. 7, her rep confirms to the Associated Press.

I love me some Nia, she's so beautiful and her boyfriend ain't hard on the eyes either...cant wait to see what the baby looks like!

Say what now? Vodka Tampons??

Teens are apparently inserting vodka-soaked tampons vaginally and rectally to get drunk. Hold up!! What?!?!

According to the Frisky a super-sized tampon can hold about a shot of vodka, and when consumed in such a manner, the booze absorbs directly into the blood stream.

So my question is... who came up with this? Like, the person who did this for the first time how did this thought cross their mind? I can't get over it. This has to be the most insane thing I have read all day!
