Oprah's last day on air is.......

Can you believe Oprah has been on the air for the past 25 years?And dont you just love her Oscar gown pictured above? Well today she finally let us know when her reign in television would end. According the to YBF during her final post-Oscar show in Los Angeles' Kodak Theater, Oprah said that May 25th will be her show's final air date.

Cue the sad tears! Ahh well at least I have Oprah's channel OWN and Charlie Sheen to entertain me. Will you miss her show?

So someone told Madonna, age 52 that it would be a good outfit to wear the outfit below and accompany her daughter Lourdes to the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Wouldn't you just pass out if your Mom wore this outfit in front of the whole world? Booty all hanging out! Don't get me wrong Madonna looks FANTASTIC and her body puts chicks half her age to shame but there this here outfit...no man! What do you think?

X-Factor star Gamu facing deportation?

Poor baby

The Sunday Mirror is reporting the X-Factor contestant Gamu Nhengu will be told to leave Scotland after losing her appeal against deportation.  The singer will be told she has to return to her native Zimbabwe as soon as possible... or face being forcibly removed.

Now if you guys remember she had filed for asylum in Scotland where she currently resides, citing that she would face a "firing squad" if she was sent back to Zimbabwe.

What's a frenemy? Welp, according to Urban Dictionary a frenemy is an enemy disguised as a friend.  Really it's when you pretend to be friends but really you just hate each other. Is this frenemy concept childish and immature?  Of course it is! Need Ideas for Fun Activities this weekend?

It's Saturday!!! I love the weekend....I always have a ton planned to do but there are times when I am miffed about how I will spend my weekend. So if you are in latter situation, here are some tips for fun activities for this weekend

• Call Somebody- Send an email or call someone that you haven't talked to in a while. Better yet, go visit them if you can. Reach out to a  long lost family member or friend. Guaranteed it will make you feel special and the recipient will also appreciate you reaching out to them

• Clean Your Bathroom and Kitchen- Nobody likes a dirty house. So if you have been putting off mopping those floors or getting the grime off your stove, this is the weekend to do it. On a related note, make sure your house smells good as well. Especially if you have pets or cook a lot of fragrant food.

• Have fun - I know this is stating the obvious! But it's the weekend man. Grab a movie and veg out on your couch all weekend, work on your hobby or talk a walk in your neighborhood and take in the sights. The weekend is your time, so make sure you enjoy it!

For all 3 of you that care...twitter is blowing up right now with Ciara and Rihanna going in on each other.  The beef started with Ciara appearing on the fashion police saying that Rihanna wasnt so nice to her the last time they met. Well that didn't take long. Fresh off the hells of a divorce from Camille Grammer, television star Kelsey Grammer and former air hostess Kayte Walsh are officially husband and wife following an intimate ceremony in New York today. This is wife no.4 for Kelsey. Congrats to the happy couple!!

The Obama's have proved it to be true by inviting Michelle Obama's Mom Marian Robinson to live with them and help take care of the children in the White House. "The girls are going to need her as part of their sense of stability,’ Michelle Obama told Newsweek magazine. So what's the lesson here: be nice to your significant others parents, you never know when you may them or..when they may need you.



3. Make Time For Romance:

I love how the Obama's go out for date night. Even after being together for 17 years, (they got married on October 18, 1992) they still make time for romance. I find this rule to be applicable even if you are married or still in the dating stages. Some couples get in the daily routine rut- meaning you get caught up in the craziness of everyday life, work or school that you don't make time to rekindle the romance. It's important to keep the fire lit by contuining to romance each other and ensure that you spend alone time with your mate. And ladies..dont let your man tell you he has no time, if the Prez can make time for date night so can your boo.

Controversial anti-abortion billboard in SoHo removed

The controversial billboard that  featured a picture of a young black girl below the message, "The most dangerous place for African Americans is in the womb." was removed after a storm of protests erupted. The young girl has been identified as Anissa and her mother Tricia Fraser is speaking out saying " I want an apology,"I'm happy that it's [being taken down], but at the same time I'm concerned that they can use that image again"

Fraser said she brought Anissa and her three other kids to a modeling agency two years ago. She was understood that stock images could be used in any capacity but she never imagined they would be used to portray such a divise and hateful message.

Ever wonder who get's to dress the First Lady? FLOTUS always looks impeccable..I mean this lady can wear an H&M dress one day and switch it up with couture the next day while still looking fabolous! Anyway I digress...

Well it's been finally revealed that 29 year old  Meredith Koop is the one responsible for Michelle Obama's wardrobe selections. Koop, a Vanderbilt University grad was originally sent over to the White House to help out Chicago retailer Ikram Goldman but now the protege has taken over full time.

A White House spokesperson had this to say about Koop "As far as clothes are concerned, responsibilities include advising the first lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price, and buying on discount if discounts are available.”

Sounds like a great  gig to me!

Zimbabwean pride- Farai Simoyi in Essence Mag

Farai Simoyi is a designer with Zimbabwean roots and is currently highlighted in the online edition of Essence Magazine as part of  the "fashions next best designers". She is part of the elite few who are poised to take over the fashion industry in the coming years.

Essence had this to say about Farai: Her sultry collection, “Madame’s Rouge”, is inspired by the controversial role of Fanny the seductress in the French based play, “Sapho”.The Breakout Moment: Moving to New York City after a summer in Italy and showing at New York Fashion Week.

I had the distinct pleasure of attending her show a few weeks back where she showcased her Madam Rouge collection and I can tell you girlfriend is going places.

Controversial New York City Anti-Abortion Billboard

A controversial anti-abortion billboard went up in New York City and it is causing quite the firestorm. The ad sponsored by the Dallas-based pro-life group "Life Always." has a picture of a young black girl with lettering saying "the most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb". 

The group's leader who is African American says that the black community needs to wake up and realize what's going on with this practice and that abortion is having a serious impact on the African American demography.. On the other side of the ring, pro-life advocates say comparing a woman's legal right to abortion is absurd. They claim it's insulting to suggest that all African American women do is abort their babies.

Here are the facts: Two out of five pregnancies in New York City end in an abortion, giving the city an overall abortion rate of 41 percent. Among black women in New York City, the abortion rate is reportedly 59.8 percent, while the abortion rate for Hispanic women is 41.3 percent and the rate for white women is 20.4 percent. The rate for abortions among Asian women in New York is 22.7 percent.

Top 6 Reasons Why You're Not Married

So author Tracy McMilian (not to be confused with "Waiting to Exhale" author Terry McMillian) published an interesting article about 2 weeks ago about why some women folk are still single and not married.  This article is assuming a couple of things, that you are a woman of a certain age,  you want to be married and all of your friends, cousins, sisters are getting hitched but somehow the ship keeps sailing past you. 

So here are Tracy's top 6 reasons why YOU are not married:


 1. You're a Bitch. - Here's what I mean by bitch. I mean you're angry. You probably don't think you're angry. You think you're super smart, or if you've been to a lot of therapy, that you're setting boundaries. But the truth is you're pissed. At your mom. At the military-industrial complex. At Sarah Palin. And it's scaring men off.

2. You're Shallow. - You are looking for someone tall. Or rich. Or someone who knows what an Eames chair is. Unfortunately, this is not the thinking of a wife. Beyonce's Skin Darkened For L'Officiel Magazine: Offensive Or Artistic?

Beyonce is back in the news in a major way and  we talking about her skin color..again. The pop star is in the L'Officiel Paris' 90th anniversary issue and she poses in traditional African clothes whilst paying homage to Fela Kuti.Well the blogshere is up in arms about B's skin being darkened for the shoot

Jezebel's Dodai Stewart writes:

When you paint your face darker in order to look more "African," aren't you reducing an entire continent, full of different nations, tribes, cultures and histories, into one brown color? [....] What if Beyonce were an Asian singer painted to look like a geisha, or given exaggeratedly almond eyes? Perhaps even more important: By painting Beyoncé's face darker, aren't the French fashion editors basically treating her like they would a white model, i.e. a blank-palette object on which to place concepts? And not an actual, authentic black person with African heritage?

Hmmm what do you think about this? I personally think this is a much to do about nothing. I don't know if it's really offensive to wear a "blackface" if you are already black. I dig the fact that Beyonce is honoring Fela and is at paying homage to her African roots. I hate so say this but a lot of African Americans dont recognize their African roots and for Beyonce to acknowledge her ancestry in such an international publication is a really big freakin deal (in the words of VP Joe Biden)

This week's Sit Your A** Down Award goes too..

I have to give this award to radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh this week..he REALLY needs to sit his ass down.  


Here's what happened. So the first family was recently in Colorado and there was a report that Michelle Obama ordered short ribs during dinner. Rush took aim at FLOTUS by saying "The problem is, and dare I say this, it doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice. And then we hear that she's out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving. She is a hypocrite," Limbaugh continued. "Leaders are supposed to be leaders. If we are supposed to go out and eat nothing, if we are supposed to eat roots, berries, and tree bark, show us how."

I'm giving him this award for a few reasons:

1. Nobody talks smack about FLOTUS, yall know how I feel about this woman. I heart her in a major way.
2. Secondly just because FLOTUS is leading a healthy-eating initiative.  dosent mean every once in a while the first lady cant indulge in a treat. So if FLOUTS wants ribs, then dang gone she should get them.
3. Really Rush? You out of all people need to follow her advice, you cant talk about anybody's diet plan until you handle that mid section. Nuff said.

Why are people giving Mrs. O such a hard time about her let's move campaign to fight childhood obesity? I don't understand these conservatives at times..in the meantime I need them sit their a** down!

Oprah school student may be charged

I'm sure Oprah has the best intentions when opening this school in South Africa but the string of bad luck surrounding the school must not have been something she bargained for.

In the latest news a student from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls could face a charge of concealment of birth after a nurse found the body of a newborn baby in the teenager's bag. Wowzers!!

Police said a nurse at the hospital found the body after the schoolgirl,  had been admitted for treatment for excessive bleeding last Wednesday night.You can click here to read the rest of the shocking story.
